Tom McMahon, 35, is President & Founder of Growth Services, which generates investment success and economic growth through active management of Seed Capital Funds, Angel Investor Groups and Industry Networks.

Tom holds a Law Degree, MBA and B.S. (Sociology) all from the University of Louisville where he focused on business law, new business development and strategy & planning. Tom is licensed to practice law in Kentucky.

At Growth Services, Tom's current primary focus is on Commonwealth Seed Capital, a $21 million seed-stage fund that invests in science and technology oriented firms that are based in Kentucky. CSC is a program of the Department of Commercialization and Innovation at the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development.

Tom most recently led the Health Enterprises Network as its first Executive Director. He carried out their mission to champion and foster the growth of the Louisville region’s health-related economy, which is comprised of healthcare services companies – the fastest growing sector in Louisville’s economy with 85,000 workers and $3.5 billion in payroll. Tom worked with the board and the business community to grow the organization’s revenue four-fold to over $550,000 annually and was fortunate to build and work with a team of four outstanding professionals, one affiliate organization and two partner organizations.

Tom began his work in economic development in 1999, serving as a founding team member of the Enterprise Corporation. He served as Capital Initiatives Director where he established relationships with angel, seed and venture capital investors and ran a loose-knit network of investors, helped high-growth companies access equity capital and helped establish the Vogt Invention and Innovation Fund.

Tom came to the Enterprise Corp. with experience in a variety of roles including sales and marketing for a health care services start-up, defense litigation for a mid-size law firm, operations and personnel management for emergency service agencies and intra-operative neurophysiology monitoring for Louisville’s largest hospital company.

Tom also served his community for 14 years as a volunteer firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician, stepping down from the rank of Captain in 2002. Since 1988, other than responding to emergencies, Tom held responsibility for areas including training, recruiting, retention, emergency medical services and emergency management at North Oldham Fire Department in Goshen, Kentucky.

Tom and his wife, a former middle school special education teacher, have been married for fourteen years and live in the Highlands area of Louisville with their three daughters.
